Charles Ostroff joined Arbor in October 2009 and is the Senior Vice President, Agency Products in Arbor’s New York City, NY office.
Mr. Ostroff works with Arbor’s loan production department to provide high-level support for special corporate projects, larger loans and borrower channel clients. He also supports Arbor’s correspondent lending program and the growing pipeline sourced from third-party lending entities that are looking to expand their product offerings to include agency loans and other financing executions. Mr. Ostroff also helps direct the effort to grow Arbor’s market footprint and product offerings.
Previously at Arbor, Mr. Ostroff served as the company’s Senior Vice President, Chief Credit Officer and Chief Underwriter. In that role, he was responsible for assigning and directing the underwriting staff in conformity with sound credit practices and Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines as well as running the full spectrum of multifamily product offerings.
During his career, Mr. Ostroff has underwritten properties spanning multiple asset classes and types. Prior to joining Arbor, he served as Vice President/Client Manager and Chief Multifamily Underwriter for Zenta, a third-party due diligence and consultancy firm, where he managed the company’s multifamily and affordable housing due diligence and underwriting platform and served as the Senior Underwriter for several CMBS transactions.
Before Zenta, Mr. Ostroff spent approximately 10 years with Centerline Capital (fka Related Capital/CharterMac) in positions including Assistant Vice President, Vice President and Senior Vice President/Chief Underwriter of Affordable Multifamily Debt and Equity.
Because his long-standing commercial real estate career spans a diverse array of roles and expertise, Mr. Ostroff often appears as a featured speaker at national and regional real estate conferences, conventions and events. He has spoken at such events as the Mortgage Bankers Association’s Commercial Real Estate Finance/Multifamily Housing Convention & Expo (MBA-CREF); the MBA’s Small Balance Lending Summit; the Crittenden Real Estate Finance Conference; the REIS Executive Conference; the REIS Sales Conference; and the Affordable Housing Development Summit. He has also been quoted in several industry publications, including Multi-Housing News and Apartment Finance Today, and spoken on two recent Arbor live webinars, “Everything You Need to Know About Small Multifamily Financing” and “Correspondent Partnerships: A Turnkey Solution to Grow Your Multifamily Lending Business.”
Mr. Ostroff holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from George Washington University and a Juris Doctor from the University of the Baltimore School of Law.
