Arbor Celebrates Environmental Roots with Long Island and Buffalo Tree Plantings

Inspired to advance Arbor’s more than 30-year legacy of tree plantings, our Long Island and Buffalo teams recently planted saplings, adding to the over 20,400 trees planted and pledged throughout our company’s history.
The tree plantings were part of Arbor’s third annual Green Week campaign, which included environmental volunteer activities and programming that marked Earth Day and Arbor Day. It included a combination of internal and external activities designed to increase employee engagement, inclusion, and awareness of volunteer programs, in addition to highlighting Arbor’s progress on our corporate responsibility initiatives.
A Symbol of the Company
Arbor Day, our company’s namesake holiday, encourages people to plant, nurture, and educate themselves about the importance of trees to our planet and well-being. Trees have been the symbol of our company since an employee naming contest chose the name “Arbor” more than 30 years ago for trees’ representation of strength, stability, and resilience in all seasons.
Arbor Sponsors Long Island Arbor Day Festival
Arbor was proud to once again sponsor the Planting Fields Arboretum Arbor Day Festival in Oyster Bay, New York, on April 26 and 27.
With a beautiful backdrop of spring flowers and trees in full bloom, the festival included sapling giveaways, a plant sale, food trucks, live music, nature crafts, and more. Along with famed forest fire prevention icon and longtime environmental ambassador Smokey Bear, and joined by family and friends, our team members picked up shovels to plant a southern magnolia, a species known for its hard and heavy timber.
Arbor is committed to supporting the preservation and beautification of this vital community green space near our Uniondale, New York headquarters to ensure future generations can enjoy it.
According to the Planting Fields Foundation, which runs the arboretum, the festival serves as a reminder of the essential role that trees play in sustaining our planet and not only celebrates the many benefits that trees provide — including improved air quality, reduced carbon emissions, enhanced biodiversity, and prevention of soil erosion — but also aims to be a catalyst for action toward environmental preservation.
Buffalo Colleagues Return to Tifft Nature Preserve for Fifth Time
Located only a few minutes from downtown Buffalo, New York, Tifft Nature Preserve welcomed our team on April 25 for our fifth volunteer visit since 2022. Arbor colleagues planted 86 basswood, pussywillow, and chokecherry trees and added tree shelters around the saplings to help them grow. Our Buffalo-based team’s involvement in Arbor’s ongoing partnership with Tifft Nature Preserve continues to grow, and our company has now planted hundreds of trees across multiple parts of the preserve.
Green Week Inspires Employees
Arbor’s Green Week campaign continues to grow in size and financial impact on organizations focused on environmental stewardship. Green Week holds special significance for our teams across the country because we prioritize tree plantings and supporting environmental organizations in the communities where we live and work so that our employees, their friends and families, and our neighbors can benefit from green spaces and healthy communities.
Although the trees we plant today won’t be big enough to provide shade and shelter at first, Arbor is proud to invest in the future and, true to our roots, develop long-term financial and community partnerships.
