Arbor’s LI Team Supports Outing for Local Farms that Empower Disabled Workers

Arbor, which takes pride in empowering employees to reach their full potential, supported the 11th Annual Smile Farms Golf Outing on May 19, benefiting the Long Island-based organization dedicated to advancing opportunities for people with disabilities.
“To have an Arbor foursome represented on the course once again meant so much to our team, and the golf outing has become one of the annual highlights at our Uniondale office to demonstrate how we show up and support our community,” said Adam Bell, Managing Director, Chief Marketing Officer at Arbor.
Golfing for a Good Cause
Plandome Country Club, Sands Point Golf Club, and North Hempstead Country Club on Long Island, NY, played host to 51 foursomes, including Arbor’s Bell, Lou Sarube, Managing Director, Structured Asset Management, Peter Kempton, Senior Vice President, Talent Acquisition, and Joe Iele, Vice President, Database and Client Systems. Attendees witnessed the impact of their generosity firsthand when a Smile Seller with disabilities spoke during the event, sharing what he loves about working for Smile Farms.
The support of Arbor’s LI team and the other foursomes in attendance directly fuels Smile Farms’ year-round efforts to create meaningful job and training opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. Because of the success of Smile Farms’ fundraising events, the organization has grown from one campus with 30 paid growers to supporting over 600 people at 14 campuses across New York.
“The impact of Arbor Realty Trust and all of our incredible sponsors goes far beyond one day on the golf course,” said Isabel Londono, Program Coordinator at Smile Farms. “Expanding this year’s outing to three courses was not just a milestone but a powerful reflection of the strength and unity of our community. We are grateful to Arbor for showing up, giving back, and helping build a future where everyone can contribute and thrive.”
Two LI-based Organizations Create Opportunities for Others, Together
Founded in 2015, Smile Farms saw the potential of the local disabled community. Led by 1-800-Flowers Chairman Jim McCann, the non-profit organization offers disabled adults the chance to work at meaningful jobs to help them learn new skills, contribute to a team and community, and experience the satisfaction of earning a paycheck.
Arbor, headquartered in Uniondale, was inspired to support the Smile Farms Golf Outing to help advance opportunities for disadvantaged individuals in the community we call home. Like McCann, Arbor is also proud of its Long Island roots and is grateful to be part of a community that values and supports our most vulnerable neighbors.
