FHFA Loan Caps for 2026: What Multifamily Borrowers Need to Know

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) announced a $30 billion boost to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac’s volume cap for loan purchases in 2026 to $176 billion ($88 billion for each agency). This increase in FHFA loan caps for 2026 aligns with industry expectations, given the anticipation of improving market conditions and lending activity expected in a lower interest rate environment. Next year’s cap for the Government-Sponsored Entities (GSEs) is an increase of approximately 20% from the $146 billion limit set for 2025.

Arbor Announces the Appointment of Charles Marino as MD, Servicing & Agency Asset Management

UNIONDALE, NY (March 21, 2022) – Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. (NYSE:ABR), a real estate investment trust and national direct lender specializing in loan origination and servicing for multifamily, single-family rental (SFR) portfolios, seniors housing, healthcare, and other diverse commercial real estate assets, is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles Marino as Managing Director, Servicing & Agency Asset Management.

Mr. Marino is responsible for the oversight and management of Arbor’s daily servicing operations as well as the Agency Asset Management functions, which include Portfolio Management, Loan Surveillance and Risk Management. In addition, he evaluates loan credit risk and portfolio performance for the Company.

“Charles is coming to Arbor with over three decades of experience in all aspects of commercial lending operations and servicing,” said Danny van der Reis, EVP, Servicing and Asset Management, “his vast expertise and strong leadership skills will help us to achieve our strategic operations objectives at Arbor Realty Trust.”

Previously, Mr. Marino spent 30 years at M&T Bank Corporation where he had been promoted over the years to Executive Vice President, Commercial Lending Services. His experience includes managing all aspects of CRE operations and services including financial and budget management, system conversion and automation/continuous improvement, construction loan monitoring, new loan originations, real estate tax escrow administration, and strategic planning.

Mr. Marino holds a Master of Business Administration, Finance and Accounting from Saint Bonaventure University, as well as a Bachelor of Science, Accounting from the University of Buffalo.
